Chart of accounts
Purpose
The structured list of all ledger accounts (assets, liabilities, equity, income, expenses) that every posting flows into.
Who uses it
Accountants.
Step by step
- 1Open Accounting → Chart of Accounts.
- 2Review the bootstrapped UAE-ready tree.
- 3Add or edit accounts within the correct type and parent.
- 4Set control accounts for AR, AP, VAT and bank/cash.
Key fields
| Account type | Determines placement in P&L or Balance Sheet. |
| Control account | Aggregates a sub-ledger such as receivables. |
| Parent | Builds the hierarchy and roll-up. |
Practical example
The receivable control account accumulates every customer balance.
Accounting impact
Every document ultimately debits and credits accounts defined here; totals appear in the trial balance.
Warnings
- •Deleting or retyping a control account misstates sub-ledgers.
